9th Annual Family Leadership Academy – March 22, 23, 24, 2012
We are excited to announce our 9th Annual Family Leadership Academy at the Sheraton Uptown Hotel in Albuquerque, NM with a Pre-Academy Workshop featuring Pete Wright, Esq of Wright’s Law on March 21, 2012. Click here for the FULL Academy announcement.

We are also excited to have DJ Vanas and other great keynote speakers that will inspire and encourage you. We have included our 2nd Annual Benefit Pow-Wow which is co-sponsored by Native American Professional Parent Resources (NAPPR) which will be held Friday night (March 23, 2012). EPICS (Education for Parents of Indian Children with Special Needs) has relocated its office from Bernalillo, NM to 1600 San Pedro Dr. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110 (between Constitution & Lomas).

EPICS - Education for Parents of Indian Children with Special NeedsEPICS is a 501 (c)3 non-profit community parent resource center for families who live in New Mexico and who have Indian children with disabilities and/or special healthcare needs from birth to age 26 years old.

Our Vision:

EPICS aims to assist families to influence change in their communities to maximize positive outcomes for children with disabilities and special healthcare needs.
We achieve this by:
Respecting each family’s unique culture and experiences, we provide a circle of support that includes partnerships, resources, advocacy and opportunities for Family Leadership.

EPICS provide learning opportunities for families and providers on topics such as:

  • IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) Overview
  • IEP (Individualized Education Program) Process
  • IFSP (Individualized Family Service Plan) Process for infants and toddlers with disabilities or developmental delay.
  • Transition from Part C to Part B Preschool Special Education.
  • Transition into Adulthood and community setting
  • Record Keeping
  • Part C (Early Intervention Process)
  • Part B (Special Education Process)
  • Opening Doors to Family Leadership
  • ADD/ADHD
  • Bullying
  • Guiding Young Children’s Behavior
